Yazoo City, July 25, '7(). liolow will be foil ml the correspondence between Wall is Johnson and others, and C.J. DuBuisson, in relation to celebrating the Anniversary of Emancipation, the 15th of August, inst. We agree with Mr. that the celebration meets with the approbation of every white man in the county.

In lt( uioriftm. Wrc have rarely been called upon to follow to the grave one more universally esteemed and respected, ly lus friends and neighbors, than the true gentleman, the devoted friend, the worthy citizen and the gallant soldier, Mr. F. Irwin, who died Thursday evening July 27th, lb'76, aged 38 lie was born in Tennessee and re-, moved to Arkansas, lrom thence to Texas about the breaking out of the war, when he enlisted in the first Texas Legion, in which command he served until the Spring of 1873, when he was detached with 'Taylor's Texas Scout's Koss's Texas Brigade, with which command he served with true soldierly devotion and conspicuous gallantly until the closo the war. lie knew no danger, feared no failure.

At the close of the war he went to farming in this count3', and as a eili.wn no man can say anything against him he was true to this countiy and its people, ever read3r to assist, either, occasion demanded. Many will recall, with the humble writer ot this humble tribute, to his memo-iy, his noble bearing last fall, in times that sore! tested true worth noble manhood. His was a sanguine and cheerful nature he alva3s looked at the bright, rather than the dark side of things, and although he had 1.0 family, he was passionately fond of children and delighted to pet and please them. He remained perfectly rational to the end, and was kind-13- nursed and watched over by true and devoted friends, who did all that could be done to assist his iron constitution to master the terrible disease, but all to no purpose; the dread messenger came and to-day, the truly good man sleeps in the bosom of the land lie loved so well. Mt his slumbers be as peaceful and quiet as his life was honorable and useful.

You have passed tlie rubicon Col. for taking to yourself a partner now, notwithstanding you arc the recipient ol natures beautiful attractions, including appendages, and vhiieou are thus reposing in your single state of blessed wc sincerely hope you 'ill abandon the idea of throwing a stumbling block into tlie paths of those who are eager and more than anxious not to live forever without a partner. A letter appears in the Yazoo City Herald of July 2Sth, from G. P.

M. Turner, in which lie attempts to vindicate his course in supporting Hayes and Wheeler, and in which he complains bitterly of the strictures of the Mississippi press upon his conversion to Radicalism. This letter is like everything else that ever came from the pen of Turner, full of inconsistencies. He says he is no Republican and no Democrat of the Tilden school." Then what in the name of God can he be? unless he be like the mustang that the dutch-man bought and could do nothing with, exclaimed You pees von tarn, pig nothing." The people of Mississippi, like those of Tennessee, care nothing for the apostasy of Turner and of all others of his ilk. There are but two sides in this political contest and those who are not for us are against us.

Both these States have cast off the yoke of thievery and corruption, and will roll up tremendous majority in November for Tilden and Re form. Prices Reduced to S4-50 pr. Saw riHIS Gin hits been in use for the past 3 1 seasons, and several recent improvements have been added. It obviates all friction in the cotton box, prevents the roll from breaking, and gives a Larger Yield of Lint from the same amount of seed than any other Gin in use. The Revolving Head lightens the draft and causes the Gin lo run faster with less driving power, thus doing a great deal more work within the same time, while economizing steam or animal power than any other gin. The seed being ginned very close, the length of the staple is increased, producing cotton on this account of a greater market value.

This improved value, given by length of staple, with extra production of lint, added to increase amount of work done, more than covers the cost of the gin in every 100 bales ginned. Testimonials sent bv mail on application. JOS. B. WOLFE General Agents, 59 Carondelet street, juncK-Iy iVew Orleaus.
