The Yazoo Herald The Commission on Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks approved dates for the 2009-2010 early hunting seasons for migratory game birds on July 22, 2009 at their monthly meeting, according to the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP). Each year, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service releases early-season frameworks that provide a of dates from which states may select specific season dates. This year, early season structures and regulations will be very similar to last year. are no major changes from last season dates.

Hunters statewide will again enjoy a 70-day dove season with a 15-bird daily bag explained Ed Penny, MDWFPMigra- tory Game Bird Program Coordinator. For the North Dove Zone, there will be 3 dove season segments: September 5 September 27, October 10 November 3, and December 25 January 15. The daily dove bag limit is 15 birds, and the possession limit is 30 birds. The North Dove Zone is defined as areas north of U.S. Hwy.

84 plus areas south of U.S. Hwy. 84 and west of MS Hwy. 35. The South Dove Zone will also have 3 season segments: September 5 September 13, October 10 November 4, and December 12 January 15.

The daily bag limit is 15 birds, and the possession limit is 30 birds. The South Dove Zone is defined as areas south of U.S. Hwy. 84 and east of MS Hwy. 35.

The resident Canada goose season will occur statewide from September 1 15. The daily bag limit is 5 Canada geese with a possession limit of 10 birds. The early teal season, September 12 27, allows a daily bag limit of 4 teal with a possession limit of 8 birds. Legal species for early teal season include all species of teal. Legal shooting hours for resident Canada geese and early teal seasons are from one-half hour before sunrise to sunset.

Hunting seasons for rails (sora, Virginia, clapper, and king rails), moorhens, and gallinules will occur simultaneously from September 26 December 4. Daily bag limit for moorhens and gallinules is 15 singly, or in aggregate (total of 15 regardless of species). Daily bag limit for sora and Virginia rails is 25 singly, or in aggregate of the two species (total of 25 regardless of species). For clapper and king rails, the daily bag limit is 15 singly, or in aggregate of the two species (total of 15 regardless of species). Possession limits for rails, moorhens, and gallinules is double the daily bag limit, except for sora and Virginia rails, which have a possession limit equal to the daily bag limit of 25, regardless of species.

Snipe hunting season will occur from November 14 February 28. Daily bag limit is 8 snipe with a possession limit of 16 birds. Woodcock hunting season will occur from December 18 January 31, with a daily bag limit of 3 woodcock and a possession limit of 6 birds. Public Record 2A, THE YAZOO HERALD, WEDNESDAY, JULY 29, 2009 Obituaries RONNIE CURRY Ronnie Eugene Curry, 49, died Sunday, July 19, 2009. Funeral services were Saturday at New Zion Fellowship Hall. He was a driver for Southland Oil Company for seven years. Burial followed at Glenwood Cemetery under the direction of Century Funeral Home. Mr.

Curry was born Aug. 20, 1959 in Yazoo City to the late Arthur G. Jackson and Christine Curry. Survivors include his mother, Christine Curry, three children Raymondus Curry, Rhonda, Rhonda Stuckey and Ronnie E. Westbrook; sisters, Glenda Ann Curry of Forth Worth, Texas, Shirley (James) Curry-Thomas of Arlington Texas, Linda Stubbins of Florida and Leuvinia Felton of grandson, Ronnie Westbrook; and a host of other friends and relatives.

Serving as pallbearers were Robert Fleming, Eddie Curry, Clarence Curry, James Thomas, James Lee and Tom Collins. Honorary pallbearers were Shaun Smith, Calvin Curry, Jailon Thomas, Fabian Curry, Jeremy Stuckey and Jarami Thomas. T.D. HITT Talmadge Dan Hitt, 91, died Saturday, July 25, 2009 at home in Marietta, Ga. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10 a.m.

Thursday in Glenwood Cemetery with Rev. Mark Coon officiating. Stricklin-King funeral home is in charge of arrangements. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Farmer Hitt. Survivors include a daughter, Libby Hitt Morley of Marietta, wife "Chip" Fitzgerald Hitt of Marietta, and one brother, Burnell Hitt of Brandon.

CHARLENE LANCASTER Charlene Sadler Lancaster, 79, died Friday, July 24, 2009 at the Martha Coker Green Houses. Funeral services were Sunday at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church with Rev. George Butler and Rev. Skipper Maxwell officiating.

Burial followed at Mt. Olivet Cemetery under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home. Mrs. Lancaster was born Jan. 5, 1930, in Yazoo County to Richard and Amanda Martin Sadler.

She operated a beauty shop out of her home for nearly 60 years, and was a member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer L. Lancaster; a brother, Curtis Sadler; five sisters, Myra Sadler, Tot Hancock, Camille Reinicker, Alestha Cummings and Rena Hilderbrand. Serving as pallbearers were Dude Hilderbrand, Bill Harris, Mark Lancaster, Mike Harris, Ronnie White and James M.

Renicker. Honorary pallbearers were Raiford Hancock, David Lancaster, Paul Massey, Randell Berry, Kevin Henderson, Nelson Cummings, Chad Thrash and Ronnie Renicker. BEATRIX MABUS Beatrix K. Mabus, 65, died Monday, July 27, 2009 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. Graveside funeral services with be Thursday at 10 a.m.

at the Flora City Cemetery with Rev. Wayne Long officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home. Miss Mabus was born in Sunflower County to John Buel Mabus and Addie Myrtis Smith Mabus. She was a school teacher and a member of Phillip Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Bobbye Mabus Lewis and Betty Mabus Coleman; and a brother, Billy Mabus. Survivors include two brothers, Bennie Mabus of Bellview, Wash. and Barry K. Mabus of Atlanta, three sisters, Barbara Tindall of Bentonia, Beverly Frank of Bentonia and Brenda Hardister of Brownsville, and a host of other friends and relatives. ORAVANDEVERE Ora Belle Vandevere, 86, died Saturday, July 25, 2009 at Magnolia Manor East in Columbus, Ga.

Funeral services are today at the Stricklin-King Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Garner officiating. Burial will follow at Melrose Cemetery. Mrs. Vandevere was born April 25, 1923 in Yazoo County to William Emmitt Lewis and Katherine Bradshaw Lewis.

She was a homemaker and a member of Melrose Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnie Vandevere; and her first husband, Henry G. McMaster. Survivors include a daughter, Beverly McMaster of Cusseta, two sons, Ron McMaster and Larry McMaster, both of Brandon; three step-daughters, Mary Kay Pope of Benton, Teri Ables of Lexington and Denise Campbell of Madison; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; seven step-grandchildren; and four great step-grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers were Travis Rowland, Greylin McMaster, Jake Fletcher, Justin McMaster, Phillip Pope Jr.

and Rick Kinard. LOUISE WALKER Louise H. Walker, 88, died Sunday, July 26, 2009 at home. Funeral services are today at 2 p.m. the Stricklin-King Funeral Home Chapel with Rev.

Steven Howell officiating. Burial will follow at the Vicksburg City Cemetery in Vicksburg. Mrs. Walker was born Oct. 15, 1920 in Wesson to Frank and Myrtle Williams Harper.

She was a retired desk clerk for the Yazoo Motel and a member of First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Walker. Survivors include two daughters, Jamie May of Clinton and Carol Jamison of Vicksburg; a sister, Betty Harper of Metarie, a brother, Bill Harper of Meridian; four grandchildren, Steve May of Petal, Doug May of Clinton, Laurie May of Ellisville and Breck Jamison of Vicksburg; and four great-grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers are Steve May, Breck Jamison, Bill Harper Doug May, Ken Hughes and Louis Shipp.
